Cadence!

What  pattern do you see here?

About 1 minute old

Just a few days old

Few Weeks old

Few Months old

Yes your right Cadence comforts her self my putting her little hand up on her head.
We know when she is tired and ready to sleep when she starts rubbing that sweet little head of hers.

Now I have raised 2 babies of my own
Aunt to 12 babies
great Aunt to 5 babies
and I have never seen a baby do something like this to comfort themselves to sleep.
"and of course Grandma thinks its the sweetest thing ever!"

While I was in IOWA

The whole gang decides to have a 4th of July pool party...
What? not while I'm gone?

Yeah that's right I don't think anybody even missed me.
What with all the splashing, food and fun
That's right people laugh it up!
( I do so hate to miss out on anything)

Even my Grand baby was there with out me....

Apparently  ITS A GOOD LIFE  even if I'm not there

A bit of Americana

We went camping over the fourth of July weekend...
actually we were gone almost a week but who's counting.
Due to poor planning we really didn't have reservations so we wound up at
The Interstate RV Park and Campground in Davenport Iowa!

The Pig at the front entrance should have been my first clue....
but the pool area was very nice

Due to the fact that we had nothing better to do on Sunday July 4th....
We got in the truck and headed
back towards the riverfront to see if we could find some where to have lunch.

Well we never made it. I happened to mention that
"hey they look like they were having a tractor pull back there"

And John turned that dully around faster then I could say
"but I'm hungry"

Now maybe Y'all have been to a tractor pull before but I hadn't
and I have to admit I did find myself sitting there smiling most of the time.

I mean these guys take it very seriously!

They are in it to WIN IT!

Even though I had no clue what WIN IT was and
John was off talking
to all the local  farmers.

I still enjoyed myself just watching all the people.

This little boy was so happy his Daddy won 2 trophies.
So did this guy.
My Favorite a Father and Son....
I do have a special place in my heart for little boys!

No offense Cadence Grandma still thinks your the BESTEST

WELL a few hours later we were in the truck headed back to the riverfront.
But much to my surprise the restaurants along the river were all closed for the holiday!

So we wound up buying dinner from the local KFC and ate it back at the campground.
and I considered the day to be a Success!!!

WARRIOR DASH

Yes these really are my feet.

We all started out so Happy and Clean!
Ready for the big challenge.

And they were right it was a Crazy Frickin' race.

They had it going all day long with "waves" of  hundreds of people running at a time.
There was over 7,000 people doing the race that day, you do the math....
and no it wasn't for charity it was for Profit!

And off we all went.
Some of us dressed better then others.

It  started out with a leisurely 5k run on grass and quickly turned in to a muddy mess,
There were 12 obstacles from junk cars in the path that we had to jump/climb over to steep muddy hills,
planks over gulley's, large rolls of hay we had to climb over
cargo nets 15 feet high we had to go up and over.
4' walls we had to hurdle/straddle and climb over
fire to jump over (3 times)
finishing with a knee deep muddy pond stretched with barb wire, that you had to crawl under.
And yes we all paid $75.00 dollars a piece to do this.

Oh but the rewards were so worth it?
we got these "nifty" warrior helmets and medals
oooh aaah

I have to admit it was fun to be there with my son.

They requested that you leave your muddy shoes "at the door"
they claim to clean them up and donate them
to some poor 3rd world country.
Now I'm thinkn' you have to need shoes pretty bad to want any of these.

On the way out they had a fire hose spraying off the mud if you wanted.

Personally I chose to wear my mud home proudly!!
(Steven thanks for watching my back....even though it turned out
when they said  this race wasn't for the average athlete "they weren't talking about me")
