Short Run on a Long Day!

Yes believe it or not June 18th
is supposed to be the longest day of the year
here in Chicago where the sun comes up the earliest
 and sets the latest.

Jun 18, 2010 (5:15 AM  thru  8:29 PM )
15h 13m 17s

Unfortunately it is all down hill from now on!

As you can see Frankfort holds a 5K  run
every year to honor this day.
Since I hadn't been in a few years
and I needed a new T-shirt to sleep in
(now you know the secret to my 32 year marriage, I sleep in T-shirts and athletic pants)
I decided to go!

It was a hot one yesterday the temp was 84 degrees
when I left home at 6pm
They say that your body heats up
20 degrees when you work out...I believe it
so that is like running with a body temp of 104 (yikes)

This comes in handy when your out in the winter running
and a 20 degree day becomes 40 degrees,
not so much on a hot June night.
Your body definitely makes a better furnace then it does an air conditioner.

So I started out slow, but then I saw a lady up ahead running in the same NEW sports top I had just bought
and that ticked me off so I had to speed up so I could pass her.

That accomplished I tried to just relax, breathe and finish!
But then I realised this cute younger girl up ahead just bouncing along with her long pony tail swishing back and forth, and I thought OK I will move up behind her and just sort of "pace" off of her.
Which was a very nice comfortable pace.

Then I heard a baby crying behind me.
When I looked over a Mother pushing a double jogging stroller
with what looked to be a 4 year old and an infant inside, went past me!!!!

Are you kidding me?

She ran on ahead talking to the kids telling them
we will be done in a minute.
So after I swallowed my pride, I continued on trying to finish with a little dignity.

BUT as the running Gods would have it when I turned the corner to finish the final stretch I saw her again
this time she must have stopped and let the 4 year old out of the stroller because he was running next to her!

I saw my opportunity and seized it!
I blew past her and her son and finished with a smile on my face.

Schools OUT

Last month Steven packed up all his belongings and moved out of his College apartment
and back home YAY!

On Saturday we celebrated his graduation with a party

I loved the shirt he wore it says....
"I'm a Business Man"
(yes you are son
and I couldn't be more proud!
You Graduated with a bachelors degree in business!!!)

watch out all you CEO's of big business  theres a new kid man on the block!

May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young,

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond
And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young,

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young,

Love you!

They're not talking about me!

I was out to dinner with my Sister & BFF the other night and we started talking about the advantages of taking a baby Asprin every day.

When the concern was brought up that maybe we should follow the directions and consult with our Dr. before starting this regimen.....seriously!

I don't believe they are talking about us, I think they mean the "average person" should consult with their physician...and they both quickly agreed (they weren't talking about us)

I've always pretty much thought this way:

Do not remove under penalty of law....(they're not talking about me)
Park closes at dusk.....(they're not talking about me)
Limit 2.....(they're not talking about me)
To much sun can cause skin cancer....(they're not talking about me)
Eat 8 servings of fruits & vegetables a day (they're not talking about me)
No golf carts off the trail (they're not talking about me)
And my personal favorite!
Do not exceed more then 6 capsules in a 24 hour period!.....(they're not talking about me)

I really hope this to be true, since the Warrior Dash is just 10 days away and they claim this is not for the casual athlete (they're not talking about me)...and I have not done one bit of strength training. Unless you count my upper arm workout from holding my Grandbaby!

(any excuse to post a picture of her)

I'm going to go to the event next Saturday and Pray they (weren't talking about me!)

Wish me Luck!

Cadence Cam

Ok since Grandma hasn't been keeping up on her "Footnotes" I thought I would do one for her!

Today I stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while Mom and Dad  had to work.
So after lunch Grandma took me for a walk on the trail.

This is the hill behind Grandmas house that she says she will take me sledding on this winter!

This is Grandmas park!
(can you believe Grandma owns her own Park?)

Grandma says early in the morning there are Momma ducks and their Babys here.
(wish they were here now)

She told me took look way high up in the tree and I could see the Momma Hawk in her nest with her babys. I looked real hard but never could see them.....

(I thought Hawks were the guys Mom said were going to win the Stanley Cup this year?)

Grandma went real slow so I could see all the flowers along the way.

I even saw a baby bunny!
Grandma said if I can catch him I can keep him!

Grandma Pokie is eating the weeds again.

This is the Dam the beavers built....hehehe

Grandma Says its ok to say Beaver Dam... hehehhe

She said I never ever EVER  EVER can cross this street by myself.

I think Grandma is going to buy me one of these.

I really like Grandmas Trail
(yup she says she owns the trail she just lets other people ride their bikes on it)
How cool is that my Grandma owns a Park and a Trail?

Ok Grandma you can take it from here I'm just going to lay back and relax for a while.

Life is Good at Grandmas House
